Intended Use
AnaeroGen (AN0010C, AN0020C, AN0010W, AN0020D,AN0025A, AN0035A) are culture media accessory devices intended to be used with the in vitro diagnostic devices part of the AnaeroGen products range, for the generation of optimal atmospheric conditions for the growth of anaerobic
microorganisms. The devices accessories are for professional use only, are not automated and nor are they companion diagnostics.
Principle of Method
The AnaeroGen (AN0010C, AN0020C, AN0010W, AN0020D, AN0025A, AN0035A) can generate the optimal atmospheric conditions for the growth of anaerobic microorganisms through a very simple method. The system consists of a paper gas generating sachet and a pouch or a jar/box. The paper sachet contains ascorbic acid and activated carbon which react on contact with air. Oxygen is rapidly adsorbed and carbon dioxide is produced. When the paper sachet is placed in a sealed pouch or a jar, this reaction will create ideal atmospheric conditions for the growth of anaerobes. It proceeds with no evolution of hydrogen and therefore does not require a catalyst. No addition of water is necessary to activate the reaction. When used as directed the AnaeroGen sachet will reduce the oxygen content in the pouch to below 1% within 30 minutes. The resulting carbon dioxide content will be between 8% and 14%. The level of carbon dioxide will depend on how many plates are placed in the pouch or the jar. The system is designed to support the anaerobic incubation of culture media or identification panels. Sachets can be provided singularly, or as part of a wider anaerobic gas generator system where 10 pouches, and 10 W-Zip seal pouches (with integral seal) respectively, are provided together with the sachets. AnaeroGen 2.5L Sachet (AN0025A) and AnaeroGen 3.5L Sachet (AN0035A) function according to the same principle, with the only difference being the sizes of the sachets that are intended to be used with a 2.5L jar or box and a 3.5L jar, respectively. Jar and box are sold separately.
Description of Components
AnaeroGen 2.5L Sachet (AN0025A) and AnaeroGen 3.5L Sachet (AN0035A) are sold in packages containing 10 sachets each, with sachets sizes of 2.5L and 3.5L respectively, intended to be used with the corresponding size 2.5L jar, 2.5L box and 3.5L jar, all sold separately.
Storage
• Store product at 2 – 25 ± 2°C.
• The product may be used until the expiry date stated on the label.
